The Inaugural Shearwater Vital Walk will benefit Super Heroes 4 Mason. This is a non-competitive run or walk and will not be chip-timed. A time clock will be displayed above the finish line to keep track of your splits.
This Fall, all of Freehold Communities® across the nation are coming together to host the inaugural Vital Walk to raise money and awareness for a charity selected their respective community! This year, Shearwater has elected to represent an important organization, dear to us, Super Heroes 4 Mason.Walk with Shearwater residents and the greater St. Johns County area to raise money and show your support for Superheroes 4 Mason. Walk or run the 1-mile course as many times as possible in one hour to further raise donations for Super Heroes 4 Mason. a 5K is approximately 3-laps. We also encourage all participants to dress in their favorite superhero costume, whether it's homemade or bought from the store. Help us fill the streets with superheroes! All registrants will receive a custom made t-shirt. Can't make it on the day of? Register as a Virtual Walker to walk anywhere in the world and still receive your t-shirt.
The Super Heroes 4 Mason Fund was established to honor the life of Mason Sturms. At 4 years of age, Mason had an unusual sense of compassion and caring for other children. In the weeks leading up to his untimely death, Mason was collecting loose change to buy toys for others less fortunate than he was. This fund, established by his parents Ralph and Erin, will be used to continue Mason’s mission to help others.

$25. All participants will receive a custom made t-shirt.
Late and race day registrants are not guaranteed to receive a t-shirt.
DONATIONS
All proceeds from the Vital Walk will be donated directly to Super Heros 4 Mason. If you want to help raise more money, simply complete as many laps as you can within 1-hour! For each lap completed between 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. during the Vital Walk, Freehold Communities will donate an additional $1 to Super Heroes 4 Mason. Challenge yourself to complete as many laps as you can!
One lap is approximately one mile. For a full lap to count, participants must cross the finish line before 9:00 a.m.

VIRTUAL WALKERS
Join the walk anywhere in the world by registering as a Virtual Walker. Virtual Walkers will receive a custom t-shirt in the mail following the walk. Submit your distance walked in 1-hour to further donate to Super Heroes 4 Mason.

DRESS AS A SUPERHERO
Participants are encouraged to dress in your favorite superhero costume, whether it's homemade or bought from the store. Help us fill the streets with superheroes!
VITAL WALK ROUTE
The walk will begin at the Kayak Club, stretch through portions of Shearwater's nature trails, then loop back to the Kayak Club on the sidewalk. This course features some rough and uneven terrain, but strollers are accessible.
TIMING
This walk is non-competitive, but bibs will be assigned to keep track of how many loops you complete. The goal is to see how many loops you can complete in 1-hour! A 5K is approximately 3-laps. This walk will not be microchipped.
PACKET PICKUP
Packets will include your t-shirt and bib. This may be picked up at the Shearwater Kayak Club at 100 Kayak Way. Packet pickup is from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2019.
PARKING
Parking will be available directly at the Kayak Club parking lot on the day of the walk. Shearwater residents are encouraged to walk, ride your bikes, or golf carts to the Kayak Club.
POST-WALK CELEBRATION
Stick around after the Vital Walk for a Superhero Sock Hop at the Kayak Club with cold water and donuts!
Then rest your muscles with a 5-minute sports massage from Leah at PostureWorks.
DIRECTIONS
Take I-95 to C.R. 210, then travel west on 210. Shearwater is approximately 4 miles west of I-95 on C.R. 210.
